Welcome to Father Tim's Homepage
Episcopal Priest -- Author -- Blogger
The Reverend Timothy E. Schenck (pronounced “skenk”) has been Rector of the Episcopal Parish of St. John the Evangelist in Hingham, Massachusetts since August, 2009. He came to St. John’s after serving as Rector of All Saints’ Episcopal Church in Briarcliff Manor, New York, from 2002 to 2009 and as the assistant priest at Old St. Paul’s Church in downtown Baltimore.
Prior to attending Seabury-Western Theological Seminary in Evanston, Illinois, where he served as student body president, Tim had a varied professional life. After graduating from Tufts University in 1991 he spent four years as a political campaign consultant, working across the country on the federal, state, and local levels. He also served as the Public Affairs Officer for an Army Reserve unit stationed in Baltimore and is a trained paratrooper.
Writing is one of Tim’s passions and gifts. An award-winning writer, he has published over 100 articles in a variety of religious and secular publications including Family Circle, Spirituality & Health, Episcopal Life, and The New York Times. For four years he chaired the editorial advisory board of The Episcopal New Yorker and has served on the Board of Governors of Episcopal Life.
Tim is the author of “What Size Are God’s Shoes: Kids, Chaos, and the Spiritual Life” (Morehouse 2008), a collection of 40 humorous and inspirational essays about finding God in domestic chaos. He currently writes a monthly column for The Hingh
am Journal and blogs regularly at Clergy Family Confidential.
When not spending time on church business or family activities, you can usually find Tim running around Hingham. An avid long distance runner, Tim has completed four marathons.
Tim’s wife, Bryna Rogers, is a trained school counselor and former university fundraiser. The Schencks live in the St. John’s rectory with their two elementary school-aged children, Benedict and Zachary, and the family dog Delilah.
